A front wheel that powers a manual wheelchair

The attachment

ELESMART A5. It mounts on the side of a manual wheelchair and adds a powered front wheel. Aluminum. About 35 pounds. The packed size is 15 inches deep, 7.9 inches wide, and 37.8 inches high. Most of it arrives already assembled.

The fit

The clamp takes front frame tubes from 0.87 to 1.3 inches. Setup instructions come in the box.

The motor

36V 500W, with a 12-inch tire. Top speed is 15.5 mph, and it can shift about 3 mph with the rider's weight and the ground. Reverse is 1.9 mph. It is built for slopes of about 8 to 10 degrees.

The battery

A 12.8 Ah lithium pack. Range is up to 37 miles, and it changes with the rider's weight. ELESMART rates the gear motor as 20 percent more efficient than a gearless motor.
